Six Sixes in an Over

Garry Sobers was already established as one of the finest all-round cricketers the game had produced, and was captaining Nottinghamshire against Glamorgan at Swansea in August 1968 when he took strike against the left-arm spinner Malcolm Nash.

The first five balls of the over went over the boundary, struck with a mixture of controlled power and clean timing. The sixth was fielded on the rope, except that the fielder overbalanced and carried the ball back over it with him, which made six sixes from six deliveries in first-class cricket.

Nobody had done it before at that level. It took more than two decades for anyone to repeat it, and longer still for it to happen in international cricket, and the over has been retold ever since, long after most of the era's Test matches have been forgotten.
